What changed in the A2 exam from 11 April 2026

The official portal states that the A2 exam for permanent residence runs in a new format from 11 April 2026. The core logic: the written part tests reading, writing and listening, and the spoken part tests answering questions and reacting to situations.

Check on the official portal

Written part

  • Čtení (reading): 40 minutes, max 25 points.
  • Psaní (writing): 25 minutes, max 20 points.
  • Poslech (listening): about 40 minutes, max 25 points.
  • Pass mark for the written group: 42/70.

Spoken part

  • About 15 minutes.
  • Max 40 points.
  • Pass mark: 24/40.
  • You answer questions and speak about pictures/situations.

What to train

After 2026, writing and spoken reactions matter especially: not just knowing words, but being able to write a short message, make a request, explain a reason, ask again and answer in simple phrases.

How to prepare

Take a practice test, mark your weak parts in a study plan, train writing and speaking separately, and before you register, check the date, price and rules on the official portal.

Ahoj, Praha! is not an official examination centre. This page explains the format in plain words, but the current rules are always checked on cestina-pro-cizince.cz.
